The presence of the Ka'apor in Brasília reaffirmed our commitment to defending our territory, culture and collective well-being. The visit was supported by Widlife Works. At the same time as we participated in the ATL mobilizations, our leaders occupied the offices, dialogued with the ministries and provoked the public bodies to act in the face of the challenges of the communities that are with the Ka'apor Ta Hury Association.

Our leaders – led by Chief General Iracadju Ka'apor – held a strong agenda of meetings with bodies such as MEC, FUNAI, MPI and MMA.

We have urgent demands from TI Alto Turiaçu:

- Recognition of schools such as Turizinho

- Firefighting and firefighting courses

- Improvement of indigenous health and structure in villages

- And mainly, complaints against José Mendes, who since 2015 has divided the Ka'apor people and insists on trying to sabotage the projects of the Ka'apor Ta Hury Association. He is disrespecting the culture of the Ka'apor people and our traditional way of making decisions, where the majority is the one who decides. And also violating the principles of self-determination of indigenous peoples guaranteed by the Federal Constitution and international treaties.

We also reaffirm our desire to continue with the REDD+ project with Wildlife Works, based on our autonomy and free, prior and informed consultation.

The Ka'apor people remain united, fighting for their rights, for the forest and for a better future for our villages.
