Visit to inform FUNAI about our Alto Turiaçu REDD+ project

On June 18, 2024, Chief Iracadju participated in a meeting in Imperatriz, Maranhão, about the implementation of our Alto Turiaçu REDD+ project.

The meeting was attended by the coordinator of Funai CR-MA, Edilena Krikati, Macilene, general coordinator of COAPIMA, Rubinho from the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples, Daniel from SEGATI, and representatives of the carbon credit company Wildlife Works. The purpose of the meeting was to talk more about what the REED+ project is, as there were still many doubts and concerns, especially regarding indigenous peoples.

At the time, the company provided all the clarifications, and Chief Iracadju once again requested the support of the institutions that work with indigenous peoples and also asked that they participate in this process of implementing the project, which is still finalizing the FPIC (Free, Prior and Informed Consultation) part. At the end of the meeting, Chief Iracadju heard from Funai Maranhão and Coapima that there would be no obstacles on their part, and they would help as much as possible.
